Grief/Loss

Grief is one of the most universal experiences that humans experience.  You’ve heard the expression “the only two guarantees in life are death and taxes.”  I believe another guarantee in life is grief.

More on Grief

I have worked with individuals as they cope with many different forms of grief.  This has included, but is not limited to
Death of a loved one
Death of a pet
Loss of a job
Loss of a relationship or friendship
Move to a new place
Loss of physical/mental capacities due to illness
Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's or other debilitating illness.

My Approach

01
In our first session, I will focus on getting to know you, exploring your history, support systems, and any additional relevant information to better understand your unique situation. I will also gather information on the loss that you've experienced that brought you to counseling.
02
In our upcoming sessions, I’ll invite you to share more about yourself and your experience with your recent loss. I understand that this can be a sensitive topic, and I’m here to create a safe and supportive space for you.
03
Together, we’ll explore how this loss has impacted you and discuss your feelings and thoughts surrounding it. There is no "cure" for grief. Instead, we learn to live with it. The work we do will be hard, but you will learn that you can live with this grief.

In a first therapy session, you can expect a welcoming and confidential environment where you can share your thoughts and feelings. I will typically begin by discussing your background and the reasons you're seeking therapy including current struggles and starting to explore goals. The session is an opportunity for you to ask questions and express any concerns you may have about the therapy process.  Overall, the first session is about establishing rapport, understanding your needs, and laying the foundation for your therapeutic journey. It’s a safe space to begin exploring your thoughts and feelings without judgment.

Therapy sessions can be scheduled weekly or bi-weekly. I generally prefer to meet with clients weekly for the first 8 to 12 sessions. However, some clients may begin with bi-weekly sessions, and we will determine the frequency together.

Do you accept insurance?

I do not accept insurance directly, but I can provide superbills for my clients. These superbills can be submitted to your insurance company for potential partial reimbursement, depending on your plan's benefits. Please reach out to your insurer's member services to inquire about reimbursement for out-of-network mental health providers.

What platform do you use for telehealth?
