In a first therapy session, you can expect a welcoming and confidential environment where you can share your thoughts and feelings. I will typically begin by discussing your background and the reasons you're seeking therapy including current struggles and starting to explore goals. The session is an opportunity for you to ask questions and express any concerns you may have about the therapy process. Overall, the first session is about establishing rapport, understanding your needs, and laying the foundation for your therapeutic journey. It’s a safe space to begin exploring your thoughts and feelings without judgment.
Therapy sessions can differ in duration depending on the client and the specific session. Typically, sessions last between 45 and 60 minutes. Occasionally, sessions may extend beyond 60 minutes in cases of crisis or significant issues that need extra attention.
Therapy sessions can be scheduled weekly or bi-weekly. I generally prefer to meet with clients weekly for the first 8 to 12 sessions. However, some clients may begin with bi-weekly sessions, and we will determine the frequency together.
I do not accept insurance directly, but I can provide superbills for my clients. These superbills can be submitted to your insurance company for potential partial reimbursement, depending on your plan's benefits. Please reach out to your insurer's member services to inquire about reimbursement for out-of-network mental health providers.
I use an Electronic Medical Record system called Simple Practice, which includes a built-in telehealth platform. All telehealth sessions will be conducted through this system.
